Frequently asked questions
What is the Olympic Mindset System?
The Olympic Mindset System (OMS) is our proprietary methodology that combines elite athletic mental training, Pentagon decision-making protocols, and championship team optimization. It's a proven system built from real-world experience and not theory. It's designed to help you sustain a high level of performance under pressure and sustain it.
How is Spencer Performance Institute different from other executive coaches?
Most coaches teach theory. Shaun has lived it what he preaches. He was the pro athlete, Pentagon strategist, Hall of Fame championship coach, worked in the corporate and private sector for over 20 years, and someone who personally rebuilt his life after being homeless, using these exact strategies. That combination doesn't exist anywhere else.
Do you offer one-time workshops or only long-term programs?
Both. We offer keynotes, half-day workshops, and full-day intensives for organizations that want a powerful standalone experience. For those ready to go deeper, we offer programs ranging from 3 months to ongoing annual partnerships.
What does the process look like when we get started?
Reach out, and we'll schedule a conversation to understand your specific challenges. Every engagement starts with a full assessment so we understand exactly where the performance gaps are. From there, we build a customized roadmap specific to your challenges. We don't do cookie-cutter programs. No pressure, no hard sell. Just an honest conversation about where you are and where you want to go.
What kind of results can we expect?
Our clients experience faster decision-making, reduced performance anxiety, stronger team cohesion, and measurable improvements in execution under pressure. The goal is always the same: turn pressure into your competitive advantage, not your liability.
What's the difference between this and therapy?
Therapy focuses on healing. We focus on your performance going forward. Our work is about building the mental strategies and systems that sharpen your decision-making, manage pressure, and sustain elite execution. We're more of a performance coach than a counselor. Think less couch, more gameplan.
Do you work virtually or in-person?
Both. We work with clients across the country and internationally, so virtual sessions are fully supported and highly effective. For workshops, intensives, and team programs, in-person is available and often preferred. We'll find what works best for you.
How is this customized for our industry?
We start every engagement with a deep assessment of your specific environment, pressure points, pain points, and performance gaps. Whether you're in finance, healthcare, tech, or education, the frameworks adapt to your world.
What outcomes should we expect after a keynote vs. an intensive?
A keynote plants the seed—your audience walks away with a new perspective and 2-3 frameworks they can apply immediately. An intensive goes deeper, building lasting behavioral change through practice, application, and accountability. Both are valuable—it just depends on what your team needs right now.
What size teams do you work with?
We work with intimate groups of 8 executives, all the way up to organizations with 500 employees. Every program is structured around your team's size, so nobody gets lost, and everyone gets value.
What does the 12-month advisory require from me?
Commitment and honesty, that's it. You'll show up to your bi-weekly sessions ready to work, be open about what's actually happening in your world, and apply the frameworks between sessions. We handle the strategy. You handle the execution. Together, we make sure nothing falls through the cracks.
Do you offer follow-up training after the workshop?
Absolutely, and we build it in by design. We don't believe in delivering a great experience and then disappearing. Most of our programs include continued quarterly support, reinforcement sessions, and ongoing access so the work actually sticks.
