Train The Mind

Elevate Your Performance

MENTAL PERFORMANCE AND ADAPTATION

Welcome to the Spencer Performance Institute

If you're talented, driven, and still feel like something keeps getting in the way…. you're in the right place.

I'm Shaun Spencer. I work with executives, entrepreneurs, small business owners, students, and athletes who have everything it takes — but anxiety, ADHD, procrastination, or imposter syndrome keeps stealing the output.

This is not therapy, nor traditional coaching. This is performance training built from the same mental strategies I used as a Nike and Adidas-sponsored professional athlete, developed through 10 years of strategic operations at the Pentagon, and proven on championship coaching floors across the country.

I've lived every challenge I help you solve. Anxiety. ADHD. Imposter syndrome. PTSD. I didn't read about these things. I fought through them. And what came out on the other side is the OMS System. A performance framework that has reached over 22 countries and helped people finally move the way their talent always promised they could.

You already have what it takes. Let's build the system that proves it.

Meet Shaun Spencer

Shaun Spencer helps executives and organizations perform under extreme pressure using frameworks from elite athletics and Pentagon operations.

As a former pro track athlete, Pentagon IT strategist, and Hall of Fame coach, Shaun brings over 20 years of high-performance education, strategies, and leadership to the corporate world and educational system. He has lived and thrived in multiple high-performance environments, in which he has gained a wealth of knowledge that he now shows to busy executives, leaders, and young professionals.

After rebuilding his life from homelessness using these same mental strategies, he's dedicated to helping leaders eliminate performance anxiety, sharpen decision-making under pressure, and sustain elite performance when there's no finish line.

Your team's next breakthrough starts with how they think under pressure.

Are you ready to...

Book a speaker who actually gets people fired up and ready to conquer their challenges?

A lot of keynotes get applause, and then when the audience leaves, everyone forgets what was said by lunch. My talks give your team real strategies and systems they can use by Monday morning. Shaun leaves his audience empowered, excited, and equipped with the mental strategies and techniques to get started immediately.

Help your leaders perform when it matters most?

Your executives are carrying more than anyone can see. Things such as decision fatigue, imposter syndrome, performance anxiety, and pressure that doesn't let up. I help them cut through the noise, so they can lead with clarity, confidence, and precision. Even on the worst days.

Stop losing good people to burnout and stress?

You are pushing hard with leaner teams and bigger goals. I completely understand that. But I’m sure you are noticing that your best people are likely burning out and running on fumes. Let's fix that by utilizing the forgotten talent that you already have to support and take some of the load off your high performers.

Build a team that actually thrives under pressure, instead of just surviving it?

Willpower, trusting the universe, and caffeine aren't strategies that we should be betting the bank on. There needs to be a system that’s designed to address all the weak spots. The Olympic Mindset System gives your people the same mental strategies and techniques used by pro athletes, Pentagon strategists, and hall of fame coaches. This way, your team can perform consistently, not just when conditions are perfect.

The Problem...

Most people who come to me aren't struggling because they lack talent or intelligence. They're struggling because at some point, usually at the exact moment it matters most, something shifts internally and they can't quite explain why.

They walk into a high-stakes meeting and feel their thoughts start to race. They have a decision in front of them that they'd normally make with confidence, but suddenly they're second-guessing themselves. They're carrying a level of anxiety that nobody around them can see, and over time, that weight starts to affect the way they show up in the boardroom, in the classroom, at home.

What most people don't realize is that this isn't a character flaw. It's not a sign that you don't belong where you are. It's what happens when pressure meets a mind that was never trained to handle it.

I learned this the hard way myself. As a professional athlete competing on the world stage, I watched pressure do things to my performance that preparation alone couldn't prevent. I felt anxiety before competitions that I didn't know how to channel. I dealt with ADHD that made it hard to execute on ideas I could see clearly in my mind. I experienced imposter syndrome standing next to athletes I had watched on television. And later in life, I worked through PTSD that I didn't even have language for at the time.

What I found through athletics, through a decade at the Pentagon watching military operators perform under life-or-death conditions, and through rebuilding my own life from the ground up, is that performance under pressure is a trainable skill. Not a personality trait. Not something you either have or you don't. A skill. And like any skill, it can be developed with the right system.

That's the gap I exist to close. Not through therapy, not through motivation, but through structured mental performance training that gives you a real system for performing at your best when the stakes are highest.

1. Pressure Awareness

Before anything else, we have to understand what's actually happening when pressure shows up for you specifically. Because pressure doesn't look the same for everyone. For some people, it shows up as anxiety before a big presentation. For others, it's the procrastination that kicks in when a decision feels too consequential. For others, still, it's the ADHD spiral that makes it hard to prioritize when everything feels equally urgent.

In this phase, we map your specific pressure patterns, your triggers, your stress responses, and the cognitive habits that show up under load. Most people have been living inside these patterns for so long that they've accepted them as personality. They're not. They're patterns, and patterns can be changed. Once you can see yours clearly, you stop taking them personally and start working with them strategically.

2. Regulation & Composure

Pressure hits the body before it hits the mind. Your breathing shortens. Your muscles tighten. Your nervous system shifts into a state that's designed for survival, not for clear thinking. And when that happens, your cognitive performance drops, even if you look completely composed on the outside.

This phase trains you to stabilize in real time. We work on nervous system regulation, composure protocols, and the physiological reset techniques that allow you to stay clear and present in the middle of high-stakes moments. The goal isn't to get rid of pressure, but to remain steady inside of it, the way I learned to do on the track, standing next to Olympians, and the way I watched military operators do it in environments where hesitation wasn't an option.

HOW I WORK

I work with people who are already performing at a high level but know something is getting in the way of what they're actually capable of.

Sometimes that's anxiety. The kind that lives quietly beneath the surface while you keep showing up and delivering. Sometimes it's ADHD, where the ideas are there and the drive is there, but the execution keeps getting interrupted. Sometimes it's procrastination that has nothing to do with laziness and everything to do with a decision system that doesn't have a clear tiebreaker. And sometimes it's the imposter syndrome that gets louder the higher you climb, whispering that you don't quite belong at the level you've worked so hard to reach.

Whatever the specific friction, the people I work with share something in common....they're talented, they're driven, and they're ready to stop working around their challenges and start training through them.

More specifically, I work with executives and senior leaders who are carrying the weight of high-stakes decisions daily and need their mental performance to match the level of responsibility they're operating at. I work with entrepreneurs and small business owners who have the vision, but anxiety or burnout keeps interrupting the follow-through. I work with students and young athletes between 12 and 21, because the time to build this foundation isn't after pressure has already broken you down, it's before. And I work with organizations and leadership teams who are watching their best people burn out and need a real system to protect that investment.

Across all of it, the approach is the same. We use the OMS System, a strategic performance system I built from elite athletics, Pentagon-level decision training, and championship coaching to identify exactly where the mental friction is and build a system around your specific brain, your specific challenges, and your specific goals.

This isn't about fixing you because, to be honest, there's nothing to fix. It's about training what you already have, so it performs the way your potential has always promised it could.

If that's where you are, I'd welcome the conversation.

Who I Work With

3. Cognitive Clarity

Once your regulation system is in place, we install decision architecture. This is where we address the overthinking loops, the imposter narratives, and the hesitation patterns that slow your execution down at the worst possible times.

What we're building here is a structured way of thinking under pressure so that when visibility is high and consequences are real, your mind moves clearly and deliberately instead of reactively. Most people in high-performance roles are making their biggest decisions while their cognitive system is under significant load. This phase changes that.

4. Execution & Identity Integration

The last phase is where everything becomes yours. Because techniques alone aren't enough. The real shift happens when a new way of performing stops being something you're practicing and starts being who you are.

In this phase, we focus on applying everything we've built in real-world conditions, reinforcing new decision behaviors, building leadership presence under stress, and anchoring a performance identity that doesn't disappear when things get hard. The outcome isn't a temporary confidence boost. It's a stable foundation that holds up in the moments that actually matter.

This is structured performance training. It's not therapy, it's not motivational, and it's not designed for people who are looking for a light touch. It's designed for people who operate in environments where results matter, scrutiny is high, and the margin for error is thin, and who are ready to perform at the level their potential has always pointed toward.

A lot of people come to me expecting a coaching conversation. What they get instead is a training system.

There's a difference. Conversations can be helpful, but they don't necessarily change how you perform when the pressure is on and everything is moving fast. What changes that is having a repeatable system installed, one that you've practiced, that you trust, and that holds up when the stakes are highest. That's what every engagement is built around.

The OMS System follows four phases. Each one builds on the last, and together they take you from understanding your pressure patterns to performing through them automatically.

There Are Thousands of
Executive Coaches.

Most performance coaches study high performance. They read the books, earn the certifications, and build their frameworks from research and other people's experiences. That's not a criticism at all, it's just not my story. I've lived every environment I teach from.

I know what it feels like to stand on the track at Penn Relays in front of over 100,000 people, competing against athletes the world has on their jerseys, and have to find a way to perform when your body is running on pure adrenaline and your mind is trying to keep up. I know what it feels like to sit in a room at the Pentagon and support military leadership operating under the kind of pressure where the wrong decision has consequences none of us ever want to think about. I know what it feels like to stand in a championship locker room and look into the eyes of people who are about to compete against the best in the world and find the words that actually reach them.

And I know what it feels like to lose everything.

There was a season in my life where all of it was gone. No safety net. No title. No program. Just me, the streets of Los Angeles, and the mental frameworks I had spent years building. I used those same strategies to rebuild from nothing into a performance practice that has reached people across 22 countries.

That's the difference. The OMS System wasn't built in a classroom or designed from a distance. It was built in the fire. Tested under real pressure, in real environments, with real consequences. And then refined through years of applying it to executives, entrepreneurs, athletes, and students who are navigating their own version of high stakes.

When I sit across from you, I'm not bringing you a theory. I'm bringing you something that has been proven in competition, in service, in leadership, and in survival.

That matters. Because when the pressure is on and the margin is thin, you deserve more than someone who read about it.

Here's Why I'm Different

What Sets Me Apart

01 — Primary Differentiator

Three Worlds Nobody Else Has Lived In

Pro athlete. Pentagon strategist. Hall of Fame championship coach. Rebuilt from homelessness.

Not one. Not two. All four.

Most executive coaches have a single background, which could be business, athletics, or military. I've operated at the elite level in all three and survived the kind of pressure that breaks most people. That means when I sit across from a CEO navigating a $100M decision, a board crisis, or a team falling apart under pressure, I don't need to refer to a textbook. I'm right at home and pulling from over 25 years of experience.

02

Most Have Studied Adversity. I Lived It.

Homelessness. The loss of a child. Street violence. Rock bottom in ways most people never see.

I rebuilt my life from scratch using the exact mental frameworks I now teach executives. That's not a motivational story. That's proof the system works when everything is on the line, not just when things are going well.

Lived Experience

03

The "Diamonds in the Rough" Method Most Coaches Completely Miss

At Bowie State, I won the university's first conference championship in history, not by recruiting the best athletes, but by strategically positioning 2nd and 3rd place finishers to collectively defeat undefeated Olympic-level competition.

That same methodology is now deployed inside organizations. Instead of burning out your stars, we find and optimize the hidden strengths across your entire team. That's a capability no motivational speaker can teach you.

Strategic Talent Positioning

04

A Proprietary System ....Not a Generic Framework

The OMS System isn't a collection of productivity tips or mindset hacks pulled from a bestseller. It's a battle-tested methodology built from Olympic training protocols, Pentagon decision architecture, and 20+ years of coaching under championship pressure.

Every client gets a system and not just a conversation.

We Don't Do One-and-Done.
We Build Partnerships.

Most coaches take your money, deliver their content, and disappear. We stay. Every engagement at Spencer Performance Institute is built around long-term advisory because we believe sustained performance requires sustained support.

You don't hire a performance advisor for 90 days. You keep one for as long as the pressure doesn't stop.

Long-Term Advisory

"Nobody talks about what it actually feels like at the top. The pressure that doesn't stop, the decisions that keep you up at night, and the face you put on every morning that says 'I've got this'…. even when you're not sure you do. I know that feeling. I've been there. And I built a system to get through it because nobody should have to figure that out alone."

— Shaun Spencer

If you're ready to work with an advisor who has genuinely lived what they teach and has the championships, the clearances, and the comeback story to prove it — let's talk.

THE OLYMPIC MINDSET SYSTEM

Here's the truth about pressure, its never going anywhere. The meetings, the deadlines, the decisions that keep you up at night, they are always going to be a thing throughout our careers and lives. But how do you manage and control it? Doing so is a skill, and it can be learned.

The Olympic Mindset System is the same mental strategies and systems that I built from competing as a pro athlete, coaching a championship team, and spending a decade making decisions alongside generals at the US Pentagon. None of what we teach is theory or doing research. Our system is proven and is what actually works when the pressure is real and the stakes are high.

Whether you're running a company, leading a team, or just trying to perform at your best without burning out. This system gives you the strategies needed to stay sharp, make clear decisions, and keep moving forward when everything around you is chaos.

An elite system for the everyday professional.

Elite performance starts with a strategic mental system that activates automatically. We install the system.
